Manono Island

Manono Island is the legendary "Bali-Hai", the unobtainable island paradise from the 1958 movie South Pacific. The boat leaves from Cape Lefatu for Manono, and during the voyage the crater Island of Apolima can be seen.

Upon reaching Manono Island, our host family will welcome the group to their home and Samoan culture, etiquette, customs and traditions are explained. A walk through the family compound will take us to the kitchen where everyday Samoan cooking is done on open fires and ground ovens. Typical of a Samoan backyard is the plantation where staple food crops are grown, and we will be able to sample fresh coconut and seasonal fruits.

We continue the tour as we walk through traditional villages, stopping at beaches for lunch, swimming or just relaxing before taking the scenic return boat ride to the terminal before our 45 minute drive back to Apia. During our tour of the beaches we will have a light morning snack, lunch is also provided.

Things to bring on the tour: swim wear, towel, reef shoes, sunscreen and hat, insect repellant.
