Apia Township & Surrounding Areas
This tour takes us through Apia and its surroundings as we discover sites of historical and cultural significance to Samoa. We will visit Mulinu’u Peninsula, the sacred burial grounds of the chiefly families of Samoa; the site of Parliament House; the Independence Monument; Lands & Titles Court; the German Monument where the German flag was raised during Samoa’s time as a colony; and the landing site of the first Catholic Missionary to Samoa. A stop is made at the Fresh Produce Market to view what is grown locally; a variety of vegetables, fruits, plants, flowers, Samoan delicacies, handicraft and souvenirs.
The tour continues as we drive through the University of the South Pacific Agricultural Campus where important research such as cross breeding of varieties of crops are investigated and trialed. We then stop to view the exquisite stained glass windows of the Moamoa Catherdral which is one of the oldest churches in Samoa.
