Savai’i Based Round Island Tours
This tour explores the Island of Savai'i beginning with a trip to Salelologa Fresh Fruit Market where you can shop for exotic fresh local produce; the tour then moves onto Sapapalii Village, the landing place of the early missionaries and then onto Saleaula Village where local families still live amongst the lava fields created from the 1905 Mt Matavanu eruptions. You will see the ruins of the village church and the incredible site of the Virgin's Grave, the burial place of a nun so pure that local legend has it that the hot molten lava flowed around the grave site rather than over it. The tour continues to Satoalepai Wetland where you can swim with the turtles and then continue on to either Vaisala Hotel or one of the beautiful sandy beaches along the western tip of Savaii Island where you will stop for lunch and a swim.
The tour continues onto Falealupo Village, viewing the ancient star mounds & historical sites on this taboo and mystical end of the Samoa Islands. Returning along the Southern side of Savaii you will stop at the Mu Pagoa waterfalls (this waterfall is unique dropping direct into the ocean), from here on you will stop at the popular Alofaaga Blowholes, with the final stop for a demonstration of the Traditional Siapo (Tapa) making – experience firsthand and design your own siapo.
